Star Trek hit theaters today and is already buzzing with great reviews. I can still remember the days of the original movies with the iconic William Shatner. The story has been through a series of great moments and tough times. Over the past decade, the movies seemed to become less impressive and simply put, boring. They no longer went where no man had gone before. Star Trek seemed to fade away in the stars...until today.
I must say that I have yet to see the new Star Trek, but if J. J. Abrams is nearly half as good a director as he is viewed as, then the movie should spark a flame that ignites audiences with awe all over again.
Have you seem the new Star Trek?
Do you think it is more or less geeky than its predecessors?
“Terminator: Salvation” might signal a revival to a long history of humanoid robots, known as Terminators. The saga has continued for nearly 3 decades, blowing its way through Hollywood with a futuristic plot of human destruction by the robotic hands of merciless machines.
The new director, McGinty Nichol, is attempting to revive the movies with “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight” star Christian Bale heading the battle against the machines as John Connor, the future revolution leader.
For this movie to succeed it needs to take audiences in a dark world where “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” did. Audiences have seen enough of the same explosions and special effects. They yearn for more of the dark mystery of the battle for humaniy’s victory. This will be key as the movie dives into a new environment, where the futuristic world of machines has come to life. The director has said he will rely less of special effects and more on developing the story, as this is planned to be the first of a new trilogy. The movie will essentially start from scratch and have a new cast that is different from “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.”
The film will not have past start Arnold Schwarzenegger, although, they will digitally put him into the movie. The film has a good chance of attracting the attention of the Hollywood world as it contains acclaimed writer Jonathan Nolan, among others. May 21 is the launch date, which will decide the fate of the new “Terminator” saga.
What do you expect from the new Terminator movie as it starts a new story in a new era?
“Quantum of Solace” races off where the earlier Bond movie left audiences in excitement. The new Bond movie continues at a fast pace, creating a dynamic plot that pulls audience members in.
Unlike the 1990s Bond movies, this one has a much more edgy and thrilling look to it. It relies less on quick one liners and new gadgets to show off. Rather “Quantum of Solace” entices the audiences with a plot that creates a real emotional attachment. The film uses Bond’s emotional side to create a link to its audience that allows them to journey with Bond as he continues to work his charm.
One thing is clear: Bond is back with a new and exciting look. Daniel Craig has offered this new look that has audiences wanting more. His strong presence fits well into the commanding role.
